Was it ever revealed to you that I drink iced coffee every morning, come rain or shine, sleet or snow? When I get up in the morning, there’s nothing more refreshing than a large tall glass of slightly sweetened iced coffee. But the same old thing may get tiresome, so I’m here to take you outside of your comfort zone and introduce to you to a few different variations on everyone’s favorite summer beverage. In fact, I believe that iced coffee is superior to hot coffee since it’s almost like a dessert in a glass: just combine the ingredients (ice, coffee, flavoring syrup, and dairy or non-dairy milk of choice) and you’ve got yourself a dessert in a glass.

What type of coffee should I use?

To create the coffee for your iced coffee recipe, you should use high-quality coffee beans, just as you would for any other cup of joe. I guarantee this is not a paid advertisement for Lavazza, but I really enjoy their dark roast coffee. To make coffee at home, you may either purchase the beans and grind them yourself, or you can purchase pre-ground coffee from your local grocery shop or convenience store. It is entirely up to you! I’ll also attempt to visit my favorite local cafes and purchase their house blends, as well as pick up some coffee from Starbucks whenever possible.

Espresso vs coffee

I’m not sure about you, but I prefer my coffee strong, whether it’s hot or cold. When it comes to getting a stronger coffee flavor, I prefer a dark roast over a medium or blonde roast, but this is all up to your particular taste choice.   1. Prepare your simple syrup and set it aside to cool for about an hour. If you’re using store-bought syrups, you may skip this step. Brew your espresso or coffee. Again, I choose espresso because it cools down more quickly when combined with ice – brewed coffee must be chilled for at least an hour before it can be used for iced coffee
  2. And In a tall glass cup, pour your preferred coffee over a big amount of ice
  3. Serve immediately. Add 1-2 tablespoons of simple syrup and as much milk as you’d like until well combined. Enjoy

Can you store leftover iced coffee in the fridge?

Both yes and no. Truthfully, it all depends on how much of a coffee connoisseur you consider yourself. If you’re accustomed to a freshly brewed cup of coffee, storing leftovers in the refrigerator may not be a good idea. Cold brew will typically last 2-3 days in the fridge if it’s been properly stored; the flavors will last a little longer because it’s been brewed at a lower temperature. Drip coffee that has been chilled, on the other hand, has a shorter shelf life before the robust coffee flavor begins to fade and the coffee becomes stale.

However, other from the flavor, there will be nothing intrinsically wrong with the coffee, so be free to assess it solely on the basis of your own personal preferences.

Iced coffee add-ins

I’ve included three different iced coffee recipes for you to explore, but keep in mind that the combinations of sugars and milks you may use are virtually unlimited! Here are some additional suggestions for how to make your iced coffee even better!

  • Nutella ice cream with coffee ice cubes, Nutella milk with chocolate syrup, Kalua or Bailey’s
  • Mint extract
  • Vanilla extract
  • Coconut extract
  • Almond milk
  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Vanilla ice cream with coffee ice cubes, Nutella, Chocolate milk with chocolate syrup, Kalua or Bailey’s
  • Vanilla ice cream with coffee ice cubes, Kalua or Bailey’s

Making simple syrup

Making a basic syrup for iced coffee is highly recommended since sugar does not dissolve very well in a cold beverage. All you have to do is complete the following steps:

  1. 1 cup water should be brought to a boil, then mixed with 1 cup sugar. Pour in any appropriate extracts (vanilla, caramel, coconut, etc.)
  2. Mix well. Cool in the refrigerator for 1 hour before using (or chill in the freezer to expedite the process)

Making the Iced Caramel Macchiato

Creating the rich dulce de leche caramel syrup and layering the espresso and milk in this Iced Caramel Machiatto recipe is the key to making this drink; it’s also much simpler than you might think! Start with an empty cup filled with ice, and then add a couple teaspoons of the syrup to taste. Prepare your espresso and pour it very delicately over the milk of your choice — I normally use 2 percent milk, but whole milk makes this drink extremely creamy and decadent – and stir gently. If you don’t have dulce de leche on hand (you can generally locate it with the jams or in the ice cream isle of your local grocery store), simply cook a can of sweetened condensed milk for 3 hours in a big pot of gently boiling water until it becomes thick and syrupy, stirring occasionally.

Making the Iced Vanilla Latte

The secret to making this Iced Caramel Machiatto recipe is in making the rich dulce de leche caramel syrup and layering the espresso and milk; it’s also a lot easier than you might think to make. Fill a cup halfway with ice and a couple tablespoons of the syrup, then stir to combine. Prepare your espresso and pour it very carefully over the milk of your choice – I normally use 2 percent milk, but whole milk makes this drink extremely creamy and decadently decadent. Instead of dulce de leche, if you don’t have any on hand (you can generally find it near jams or in the ice cream section of your local grocery store), simply boil a can of sweetened condensed milk for 3 hours in a big saucepan of gently boiling water.

Making the Iced Mocha

This chocolate iced mocha is produced in a similar manner to the vanilla latte, and the key ingredient, cocoa powder, is likely already in your pantry. Simple syrup from the Vanilla recipe above is combined with a spoonful of cocoa, and you’re ready to go. Start with an empty cup full of ice, then pour in your espresso shots and stir in some milk and chocolate syrup until everything is well-combined. It’s really simple! If you really want to take this iced mocha to the next level, you could also use chocolate milk or even a few drops of mint extract to make it an iced peppermint mocha, which would be delicious.
