Our internationally accomplished Executive Chefs Jean Pierre Guerin and Frédéric Couton created a cookbook that truly exemplifies the Rocky Mountaineer culinary experience, with recipes that celebrate the unique character of Western Canada. Many of the 37 regionally inspired dishes in this book are served in our award-winning GoldLeaf Service dining room onboard the train. Additionally, there are several bonus recipes— personal favourites of our culinary team. All of the dishes are easy to prepare at home and, of course, you have the additional advantage of cooking them in a kitchen that isn’t moving.

The inspiration for Eat Play Love: Regionally Inspired Cuisine by Rocky Mountaineer is easily found right outside the windows of our train, as we travel through nature’s wonderland of breathtaking scenery. Rocky Mountaineer sources fresh, local ingredients indigenous to Western Canada, specifically the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. Each dish complements and reflects different parts of the region, and acts as a map and compass for the senses. But don’t worry if you’re not from around here – all of the ingredients can be substituted with your own locally sourced product and a little creative licence.
